What it does

Key Signout Log overview

Key Signout Log is planned for front desks that need a simple record of keys going out and coming back. The first version focuses on a key-ring roster, checkout/check-in history, due-back visibility, optional evidence, and export without cloud accounts in v1.

  • Paper signout sheets are hard to search, audit, and export when a key is missing or overdue.
  • Spreadsheets and printable logs drift out of date at a busy front desk.
  • Many teams need a quiet ledger, not a key cabinet, access-control platform, or security monitoring system.

Key details

Why it is useful.

The practical reasons this app earns a place on someone's phone.

01

Know which keys are out

See open, overdue, and available key rings from a front-desk dashboard built around the checkout flow.

02

Record the handoff

Capture the person, due-back time, witness note, signature, photo, and checkout notes when the situation calls for more detail.

03

Keep history exportable

Open-key and full-history CSV/PDF export are planned so managers can keep a readable record outside the app when needed.

Use cases

Where it fits.

Real situations where the app removes friction from a familiar job.

Front desk checkout

Check a coded key ring out to a person, set a due-back time, and add optional witness or evidence notes.

A school office logs the maintenance key set before handing it to a contractor.

Overdue follow-up

Review which key rings are still out and which ones are past the due-back time.

A property desk checks overdue keys before closing instead of scanning a paper binder.

Record export

Export open-key or full-history records when a manager needs a clean handoff or audit trail.

A church office exports the month history before changing lock procedures.
FAQ

The practical questions.

Short answers about pricing, privacy, launch status, and everyday use.

Who is Key Signout Log for?

It is for small offices, schools, churches, facilities teams, property desks, dealerships, service counters, and front desks that still use a paper key log, spreadsheet, or printable sign-out sheet.

What data stays local?

The planned v1 keeps key labels, person names, due-back times, witness notes, signatures, photos, and checkout history on the device unless the user exports or shares them.

Does it prevent theft?

No. Key Signout Log is a recordkeeping ledger. It does not secure physical keys, prevent theft, monitor access, or replace ordinary key-handling procedures.

Does it replace key cabinets?

No. It is for teams below the key-cabinet threshold or teams that want a simple signout history. It is not hardware, RFID, lock control, or an access-control system.

Can I export records?

CSV/PDF export is planned for v1. Final export wording must be checked against the shipped build before launch.

Does it work on iPad or a front-desk device?

iPad and front-desk use are part of the intended app wedge. Final supported devices must match the shipped Xcode configuration before screenshots and launch copy are finalized.
